The lure of the deep. There’s something exciting and mysterious about exploring deeper dive sites while scuba diving. Sometimes it’s a wreck that attracts you below 18 metres/60 feet, and on wall dives it may be a giant fan or sponge. Whatever it is, to scuba dive with confidence at depths down to 40 metres/130 feet, you should take the PADI Deep Diver Specialty course.
If you’ve earned the PADI Adventure Diver rating or higher, and you’re at least 15 years old, you can enrol in the Deep Diver course.
If you’re at least 15 years old and have earned a PADI Adventure Diver certification or higher, you can enrol in the Deep Diver Specialty course.
Along with reviewing reasons for deep diving and the importance of knowing your personal limits, you’ll learn about:
- Specialised deep diving equipment.
- Deep dive planning, buddy contact procedures, safety considerations and buoyancy control
- Managing your gas supply and dealing with gas narcosis.
The first dive of this PADI Specialty Diver course may credit as an Adventure Dive toward your Advanced Open Water Diver certification – ask us for more information about credits towards the Advanced Open Water.
What will you learn?
You will complete the knowledge review portion of the course at home before the course starts
At the start of your course, you will spend time in the classroom checking your knowledge reviews.
Then you will have four Open Water dives in Stoney Cove as well as time spent on the surface practising skills before putting those new skills into practice underwater.
How long will it take?
The course lasts two full days.
What will you get from it?
As a PADI Deep Diver, you will learn the correct procedures for diving to deeper depths below 18m, experience narcosis and navigation at deeper depths. You will gain valuable experience of diving deeper and planning deeper dives.
You must be 15+ years old to enrol on this course at Stoney Cove
You must be able to swim and be medically fit to dive
PADI Adventure Diver (or equivalent qualification)
All equipment hire is included in the price, however, you will get much more enjoyment from the course if you get your own mask and snorkel. You will also need a dive light a slate, underwater compass, line and reel.
There are no hidden extras with your course at the Diveschool @ Stoney Cove. Entry fees, air fills, kit hire, course materials and PADI certification fees are all included
