The PADI Rescue Diver course teaches you techniques to avoid and manage problems and improve your confidence as a diver. During the course, you’ll become a better buddy by enhancing your ability to identify potential problems and by practising dive emergency protocol. The subject is serious but the training is fun – many divers tell us the PADI Rescue Diver course was their favourite!

The PADI Rescue Diver course prepares you to deal with dive emergencies, minor and major, using a variety of techniques. Through knowledge development and rescue exercises, you learn what to look for and how to respond. During rescue scenarios, you put into practice your knowledge and skills. Topics include:

  • Self-rescue
  • Recognizing and managing stress in other divers
  • Emergency management and equipment
  • Rescuing panicked divers
  • Rescuing unresponsive divers

What will you learn?
You will complete the knowledge review portion of the course at home before the course starts
On the first day of your course, you will spend time in the classroom checking your knowledge and understanding with your instructor and may spend time in our on-site heated pool refreshing your dive skills and practising new rescue skills to prepare you for the Open Water portion of the course
On days two and three, you will head out into Open Water in Stoney Cove to practice the 10 rescue exercises in preparation for the two rescue scenarios at the end of the course.

How long will it take?
The course generally lasts 3 full days (4 days with Emergency First Response)

What will you get from it?
As a PADI Rescue Diver, you will become more aware of the divers around you and develop confidence. You will learn to be a better buddy.

Age Requirements
You must be 12 years old to enrol on this course at Stoney Cove

Course Prerequisites
You must be able to swim and be medically fit to dive
PADI Adventure Diver (or equivalent qualification) with completed Underwater Navigation Dive
EFR Primary and Secondary Care Training (or equivalent qualification) within the last 24 months (or book this course combined with the EFR course)

All equipment hire is included in the price, however, you will get much more enjoyment from the course if you get your own mask and snorkel

There are no hidden extras with your course at the Diveschool @ Stoney Cove. Entry fees, air fills, kit hire, course materials and PADI certification fees are all included
